In the 1990s, the bank stood out by adopting cutting-edge technologies, such as fiber optics and laser, connecting all its branches and ATMs online. It was the first in Brazil to offer internet banking, positioning itself among the top five companies worldwide that initially invested in this innovation.

Challenge: Advancing Gender Equity in IT

The company, already on a journey to ensure greater gender equity, has consistently taken actions to increase the female presence in the organization, including management and technical areas. In the context of Information Technology (IT), this requires a selection and training process aligned with diversity, while also being capable of gathering the best talents to form the work teams.

In this context, the financial institution identified that, through a partnership with act digital, it could take an important step in forming a multidisciplinary team of women (women’s squad). The focus would be to create a team to operate in one of the business’s most relevant areas: account opening. For this, it would be essential to bring women with IT knowledge and leadership skills into the team.

Given the need to establish a culture of diversity, forming the women’s squad would be an option to address the gender issue. However, the project was challenging for the institution due to the need to identify and train professionals with the appropriate profile to lead and execute technological projects.

Solution: Formation, Training, and Management of the Female Team

act digital was responsible for assisting the bank in creating and managing this women’s squad. This project included searching for professionals with the appropriate profile, as well as managing the activities of this team on a daily basis.

Methodology

The women’s squad was formed by IT professionals with profiles suitable for management and execution roles. To optimize and enhance the journey of opening accounts for individuals (PF), this team used UX (User Experience) concepts to improve customer usability and experience. Additionally, the women’s squad also works on migrating the institution’s solutions to the cloud. The team masters advanced technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, and .NET Framework, essential for developing and implementing IT resources.

act digital’s team employs agile methodologies both in outsourcing processes and technical projects. This approach ensures the teams’ quick adaptation to business needs as projects evolve.

A differentiator of act digital in this project is that all processes, including back-office operations, were conducted by women. These professionals led stages such as recruitment and selection, hiring, training, and engagement (a phase dedicated to promoting a sense of belonging, ensuring that professionals felt they were part of such an important initiative).

Technologies Used

- Java: Programming language used to develop high-performance applications.

- Spring Boot: Framework that facilitates the creation of standalone and production-ready applications.

- .NET Framework: Development platform used to build and run a wide range of applications.

Results: Highly Engaged 100% Female Squad

The formation of this first women’s squad aimed to optimize and enhance the journey of opening individual accounts, contributing both to technological innovation and gender equity within the bank. With the support of act digital, the bank not only strengthened its inclusion and diversity actions but also took an important step towards modernizing its processes.

Main Results:

  • Formation of the bank’s first 100% female squad.

  • High team engagement (with quality deliveries and low turnover).
