Explaining the Metaverse is still challenging — let’s summarize. Metaverse is a human interconnection network with real-time 3D simulations in which you consume, experience, and interact with other people online but with the feeling of real life.
According to Frédéric Martineau, CTO at act digital, consumers already have access to products and experiences “online and offline”, however, the Metaverse will merge both models. It provides a new way of offering a shopping experience, which could involve fashion shows, advertising campaigns, games, experiences, conferences, and much more. The possibilities are really endless.
Moving on to practice, we list some examples of the use (now and in the very near future) of the platform and the various technologies associated with it.
The fast-food chain approved a patent application for virtual assets, taking its first step towards the Metaverse. One of the items is “a virtual restaurant that includes real and virtual products,” as described. In all, ten items are listed to have their patents in the virtual version — and there is still the intention to more clearly integrate the virtual with the real through home delivery. Among other possibilities are the creation of virtual art, audio, and video files, as well as NFTs*. At the Metaverse, customers will be able to access the restaurant, place their virtual order, and receive the meal at home.
A heavyweight company entered the world of NFTs* with a unique line of items that offered buyers the opportunity to help create the company’s products. The collection called “Into the Metaverse” brings special tokens for joining this “fan club,” in addition to real items in the physical world.
Foo Fighters’ Concert
Super Bowl LVI always brings something new each year and has already delivered what it will be like to watch the shows through the Metaverse. As part of the event’s programming, the Foo Fighters’ concert was pre-recorded with 180-degree technology and broadcast in the Metaverse at the end of the game. The perfect experience was up to the user who could watch through a virtual reality device and had an immersive view of the presentation. If you missed the show, watch the full performance here.
- What is NFT?
NFT (“non-fungible tokens” is a way to demonstrate ownership over a digital asset or a real-world asset represented by a token. Anything can be an NFT: an image, audio, video, a domain name, concert tickets, music albums, in-game digital assets (e.g., a skin)).
